  • Why should I have my pet professionally groomed?

Although you might choose to take the responsibility and time commitment on of grooming your pet on your own, there are a number of good reasons to have the job done by a professional:

    They have the right tools.

Professional groomers have a wide array of tools designed specifically for grooming pets, from clipper to special grooming tables, specialty skin products and pet bathtubs. They also keep a selection of specialty shampoos on hand for dogs and cats who have skin irritations, allergies, ticks, or fleas. They even have treatments for pets who have been sprayed by skunks.

They have plenty of experience handling dogs and cats.

Professional groomers know what to do to keep your cat or dog safe during grooming. They are experienced in handling seniors, animals with behavioral issues, and more.

They take care of the unsavory tasks.

Regardless of how much we love our pets, there are certain grooming tasks that aren't pleasant at all. From shampooing a muddy dog, to treating skunk spray or cleaning anal glands, A professional groomer can get the gross jobs done with minimal fuss to make sure you don't have to.

  • How long does a grooming session take?

The length of a grooming session may depend on the size of your pet as well as their coat type and its length. That said, most grooming sessions at our hospital take between one and two hours.

  • How much does grooming cost?

The cost of grooming really depends on your pet's size and their breed. If your pet has significant behavioral issues, this can also affect the cost of a grooming and bathing treatment. For a better idea of cost, please contact us for an estimate.

  • What are the health benefits of professional grooming?

Grooming is very important to make sure your pet remains clean and healthy. It removes fur that has been shed and caught in their coat, fleas, ticks and matting. Other health conditions can be stopped or prevented altogether.

Because mats can cause knots in your pet’s hair, this can lead to pain and discomfort - something every owner wants to prevent. A good brushing will also make your dog’s coat shine. Their nails will be trimmed to prevent curling and invasion of germs.

The early detection and treatment of skin infections is also key to your dong's long-term health and your groomer will know what to look for / They will keep an eye out for new lumps or bumps, rashes, infections, inflammations or lesions that even the most perceptive owner may miss. They may also catch an underlying problem, and the sooner these issues are found, the sooner they can be treated.

  • How do your groomers handle fearful or aggressive pets?

Our groomers have spent many hours handling stressed, anxious or aggravated animals. In cases where the animal is especially fearful or aggressive, sedation during the grooming session may be recommended. Most of the time, though, our groomer can manage the animal with the following steps:

    • A quiet, peaceful environment

    • Offering treats

    • Frequent breaks

    • Opening a window or playing music

    • Asking a dog to do something it knows (like 'sit' or 'shake')

Our bathing services are available for your pet daily, and include nail trimming, shampooing and anal gland extration along with blow drying and brushing.

We also use Fresh n' Clean to keep your cat or dog smelling good for 2 weeks!
